The remake of 2011's The Binding of Isaac will feature 150 new items, three playable characters, new bosses, new endings and a two-player co-op mode when it launches on the three platforms at an unannounced date.
Those who want all of the visual effects are advised to play on PS4 or PC, while those who want to play anywhere can do so on the Vita. “However, you will not be able to unlock anything while you are playing a seeded run, so you can’t cheat to unlock everything easily.” PS4, PS Vita and PC versions will also tout a native resolution of 480 x 272 as it's a “good fit for pixel art” and lets the developer get “everything we need on-screen in Rebirth.” Rodriguez notes the differences between the PS Vita and PS4 versions "will be generally visual/superficial,” with the handheld version featuring limited special effects and shaders. YES NO“If you and your friend have a different set of items unlocked, you will mostly see the same items in the same places, but any items the seed generates which you haven’t unlocked will be replaced with one you do have,” Rodriguez wrote, revealing that there are more than four billion possible seeds. These unique seed names allow players to make a note of favorite runs to replay later or send to friends. The roguelike's randomly generated levels will have unique seed names that determine floor layout, room, enemy and item for each run.
For those interested, the two default control layouts are available to view in full on the post. For example, on Vita, if you know you only play with analog movement and firing, then you can move all the vital inputs to the face buttons and not have to mess around with the shoulder buttons.” The default control layouts for the PS Vita and PS4 versions allow users to move and shoot using both digital and analog controls. “And we’re certain that you’ll change them around almost instantly. “You can literally set the buttons as you like,” writes Nicalis founder Tyrone Rodriguez, the team working with the title's creator Edmund McMillen.
The PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita versions of The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth run at 60 frames per second and feature fully configurable control mapping along with more than four billion unique seeds, according to a post on the game’s official blog.
